Current volunteering vacancies
We’re currently recruiting for our friendly Addlestone office.
Admin and customer service
This role provides admin support to our advice team and helps ensure the smooth running and organisation of the office. Duties could include using the computer and database, speaking on the phone, sending text messages, scanning, filing, researching and helping with fundraising and marketing.
Giving information advice and client support
This is a key frontline role, primarily using the phone but sometimes also meeting clients in person. Advice volunteers take enquiries from people who are seeking information and advice. Our initial advice helps clients to be quickly assessed and their issues progressed to the most appropriate next stage. That might be self-help information, a basic benefit check or an appointment with a specialist adviser. Clients may be vulnerable or facing harrowing circumstances so a sympathetic and understanding nature is required along with good listening and communication skills. Full training is provided as well as ongoing support and supervision.
Research and Campaigns
Citizens Advice helped 2.68 million people across the UK last year. No one else sees so many people with so many different kinds of problems, and that gives us a unique insight into the challenges people are facing today. With the right evidence, we can show big organisations – from companies right up to the government – how they can make things better for people. Our local Research and Campaigns volunteers use the internet, database and other research methods to produce data, evidence, statistics and reports which help inform regional and national campaigns to make a real difference to people’s lives.
How to apply
We welcome applications from volunteers with lived experience of the issues our clients are facing, and from a wide variety of backgrounds and life stages. Please email volunteer@randscab.org.uk or call 01932 827 187 for more information.
You do not need to have any particular background or experience, but you do need to be computer literate and able to commit to one or two weekdays per week for at least 18 months, ideally not less than 2 years, for most roles in order to apply.
